Lawrence Andrea is an editor on Agence France-Presse’s Asia Pacific desk. He is based in Bangkok.
He was previously the Washington correspondent for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, covering Congress and the White House with a focus on Wisconsin. He covered multiple midterm and presidential election cycles over his years with the Journal Sentinel.
Before D.C., he led the police, crime and breaking news beat for the Indianapolis Star.
Lawrence also reported from Greece for the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. His assignment in 2021 focused on the refugee situation in the country and explored post-asylum life for refugees in the region.
His last article for the assignment published in National Geographic in January 2022.
Lawrence graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2020 with degrees in journalism, Classical Studies and photography. He also studied Arabic. Lawrence interned for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and WisPolitics and worked with PolitiFact while in college.
His work has appeared in USA Today, Yahoo, National Geographic, PolitiFact and Balkan Insight. He has been referenced in the Associated Press, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Sports Illustrated, Rolling Stone and more.
